Increase is political - I don't buy all their 'just a bunch of outdated close friends' imaging, I don't know who funds them but they may have a steady anti-BBC bias, which in the trendy earth (deliberately or not) is an element of the broader correct-wing political campaign benefiting people today like Elon Musk, Tommy Robinson and Vladimir Putin.
